AprilThere is no 'meh' button so going with the downvote. It is a fun, playable game that is challenging for the player. Graphics are pretty good to decent, AI is pretty decent, and gameplay is pretty straightforward. And those are it's strongpoints. Now, the bad things. Troops get stuck or don't even attack and will just linger around their spawn point waiting for an order that never comes.
So if you finish the final wave, and there is still some regular troops remaining, get in the sniper tower if you have a line of sight to them and visually search for it. You're already ♥♥♥♥ed on time but you can go back later to improve your score.Tanks can fire a gun backwards due to very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ programming and very poor controls. My tank was stuck on open air, the gun facing towards my lines, with a enemy tank coming up behind me from it's spawn point. I was able to keep firing at him through my tank until the last shot to destroy him and then the game crashed.
But I've learned to not fire the finishing blow and let my own troops kill it. So, the firing arch can be used both front and back even for tanks that do not have a main gun there. And the handling of the tanks sucks big time. I expected an arcade style of handling with a cartoonish flare. What I got was bouncy one moment, stuck on nothing the next moment, the tank not responding to commands for a few seconds, and then 'drag racing' to catch up to the commands even though the rest of the game is going normal speed.I played the game when it first came out (beat both campaigns and all achievements) when it only had a patch or 2 and well before they added a battery to limit use of vehicles and you either had to die or exit to lose it. The controls were so much better back then and it acts like a downgrade for ground vehicles and ground based 'barrages.' I had the same issue with the 'super soldier' that came with the barrage as well.
Airplanes acted a little flighty, but they're extremely weak where the fighters machine gun does more damage then the bombers bomb. So fly the fighter slow and from high altitude, angle to your target, and machine gun them to death as it kills the target a whole hell of a lot faster. All in all, it's a pretty decent game. A lot buggier now then when I first played it but that's to be expected with half-♥♥♥ DLC's and Dev's shoving things in and not polishing them up. And since the game is cheap for the entire set (I paid much more for the original and cold war without DLC's when they first came out,) it's a way to pass the time and you can always explain away the crashes and poor handling of the ground vehicles as getting what you paid for.
